Joshua Clay (Josh)

Average looking 14 yr. old - Mature for his age - Wise - Mysteriously quiet, meek in character - Can be courageous and bold when moved by the Holy Spirit - Knows when to speak and when not to speak - His heart is to love people to the Lord the way Jesus did - He has a deep compassion and understanding for his generation


Cameron Clay (Dad)

Caucasian, late 30s to mid 40s - Looks like Howie Mandell of Deal or No Deal - Soft, kind in his masculinity - A lot of authority - Not easy to push around - Maintains confidence; Yet he is sensitive - Down to earth, nice guy; bald or shaved head, with an earring from his rogue days, as a reminder from where he’s come from - His dad wasn’t there for him, now he wants to be there that much more for his own children.


Linda Clay (MOM)

Caucasian, late 30s to mid 40s - Grew up in a loving family, went camping with her dad every summer, she loves the out doors much more than her husband - Has soft motherly feel about her around kids - She can stand up to Cameron’s energy and keep him grounded; She enjoys watching him get excited and “fly to the sky”; no competition in their relationship - She loves who she is and can keep him emotionally safe - When Cameron comes back with job as line cook, she would support him but also be sad; telling him about himself, his strengths - She is a rock in his life


Brooke CLAY (SISTER)

Caucasian, 12 yr. old - Loves people - Loves her family - The most emotional of the Clay family; She is empathetic; Always feeling for those around her; how it relates to people I love and fear and pain and injustice - Would be really sad for the person, family, loved ones of the person who died - Can feel the emotions of everyone around her, which can be overwhelming at times - Coming of age - Trying find what God has planned for her and has put inside her;  Delicate but what boldness and strength she has she gets from the Lord - Sleeps easily


SOPHIA-MARIA GRADALUPE, aka “PIPER” (SISTER)

10 -11 year old adopted Guatemalan daughter, Sophia-Maria Guadalupe..., “Piper” for short.  Has an uncanny ability to remember details, trivia and historical data.  She is visual and personality opposite of Brooke. Very relational; not very squeamish - Quiet fear—wouldn’t really show it; wouldn’t let emotions get in the way - Inquisitive - a personality reflective of Velma Dinkley from Scooby-Doo. She’s a bookworm and sometimes lets the “detective” inside get the best of her.


Ethan Gray

Caucasian, 14 to 16 yrs. old - Tall, slender -Creative, artist- Loner, quiet - Deep emotional hurt - There’s something peculiar about him; He’s hiding something; Trying to escape, not be found out; Inside has conflict, wants help but doesn’t think there is hope; Father was abusive; Has a problem with authority and submission. But even through all his dark mysterious vibes, theres a likability to him, you want him to change, you want his pain and emotional hurt to end.


Ms. Belle

Ms. Belle looks timeless and eccentric with her antique reading glasses that always cling to the end of her nose. You can’t tell if she’s really old, or really young. Her appearance (dress, make-up, hair) would make you think she’s older. Her hair is frizzy and graying and always done up haphazardly, but her face is youthful and beautiful. Her personality is warm and friendly, but she also might be hiding something. Somewhat resembles Professor Sybil Trelawney from the Harry Potter series. She might have a few screws loose...


Mrs. Gray

Mother of Ethan, middle aged, lighter skin ethnicity. Has had some rough years of marriage. Is now dealing with the news that her husband has died mysteriously.


SHERIFF

An older gentleman- been the Sheriff of this small town for years. Is logical in his dealings and thoughts about “what’s out there” in the woods and the strange things that have happened before.


DEPUTY

Younger than the Sheriff, more naive in his way of thinking. Superstitious, has his own speculations on the mystery


Deli Owner

Late 30s - early 40s male.  5 o’clock shadow. Heavier set. Single, the diner is his life. Gruff on the outside but has a heart of gold.


Julia

19 year old working girl - Sweet and polite - Lives paycheck to paycheck - Works at Diner as a waitress; Not the most thrilling job, but it’s a job

Tall, slender - Mid 30s - Has a mysterious presence about him. We don’t know if he’s one of the good guys or the bad guys.

Older male - Graying hair - Polite and helpful - Greets everyone with a big warm smile.

The STORY


Tucked within the shadowy landscape of a 150-year old Washington town, racial tensions brew as the events surrounding a mysterious death tear away the curtain that has concealed this small town's hidden secrets. Folklore and legend can no longer explain what lies in the woods surrounding their community. Local residents point the finger of suspicion in all directions. Blood lines thicken, friendships are challenged, and love is put to the ultimate test. The secrets dividing this town for well over a century must now be brought to light, but nothing could have prepared them for the truth.

Within only days of their arrival, 14 year-old Joshua Clay and his family become the target of suspicion. Recently forced to relocate from Seattle, the Clay's settle onto an inherited property on the outskirts of town. But they soon learn that everything hiding in the shadows will be brought to light as they are thrust into the spotlight of surfacing tensions, strange encounters, and heated accusations.

However, there is a divine interaction as the kingdom of heaven approaches this seemingly forgotten town. This illusive tragedy drives the Clay family to the crossroads of their faith. Will they have eyes to see the mysterious activity of an invisible God? Where will their faith lie when natural explanations can possibly shatter all they've hoped to be true? As the family draws closer to each other and clings to the beliefs they hold so dear, they will discover that the God of the scriptures is the God of the supernatural.

The pilot episode propels the unique origins of the Clay Family through a gauntlet of mysteriously extraordinary events. In the face of doubt, the journey of their faith must survive the accusations of their family's history. Can forgiveness redeem their wounded past or do some scars run too deep? One thing is certain, their lives will never be the same.

As we peer into the life of Joshua Clay we discover a struggle not unlike our own; the search for genuine answers, the fight for justice, and ultimately the  need for truth that will not fail in the face of scrutiny. His past has been our past, his doubts have been our doubts, his search has been our search. As unexplained events unfold in non-traditional storyline, we witness the reconciling power of God's love to transform a town pleading for it's past to be forgotten, sow forgiveness in the lives of the broken, and equip a generation to walk in the truth of biblical signs and wonders. Joshua’s discovery is our only hope...
